Ink and watercolor mini portrait

This painting practically painted its self. I started off by doing a grey scale under painting with black ink and water pens. Then applied a few washes of color to bring her to life. The shading was already taken care of with ink washes.  Hope you enjoy. Merry Christmas everyone.

Objects in Mirror are Closer Than They Appear - elephant painting

I was inspired to paint this big momma elephant by a reference photo taken by "exfordy" over at Flicker. Its not a position that I would want to be in. According to the story, the week before a Japanese tourist was killed after getting out of his car to take pictures and admire these magnificent animals. We have the same problem here in Banff.. ppl getting out of their cars to admire the baby bear cubs, or the cute little baby moose. What they dont understand is they have very protective Momma's close by and they will give you a licken if your not paying attention. LOL
Anyways this is another miniature

Coffee Time - miniature acrylic painting

I dont know about you all but my day does not start without a hot cup of Java. Limited to 2 cups a day, but if I dont get my coffee and 10 min in the morning - just dont talk to me. ;) I think that is why my day starts at 4:30am, just so I can have a little quiet time before the chaos of the day starts. This is how I fill my extra time before my family gets up. Hope you enjoy

Cherub and Daisies - Still Life Miniature Painting

Hi everyone, Hope everyone is staying warm. I thought I would try and get this one in before the big Hockey game starts. For those who dont know it is the Heritage classic an outdoor professional NHL game between Calgary and Montreal. Only the second time being played in Canada! Well it is -30 celcius with the wind chill so it will be interesting to see who will be victorious without to many injuries. I dont even like hockey but it is part of my life since getting married so...i thought I would share my pain... ;) lol
Anyways Hope you like the new mini

Man in Turban

2.75 * 2.75 inch Acrylic on stretched canvas SOLD
A quick mini I did yesterday. I have tried for years to get a loose impressionistic style in my watercolors - to no avail. But with acrylics I can be so much more freer with my strokes - as if i dont like it I can always paint over it .. lol ;)
Hope everyone has a safe and Happy New Year!
