Namibian Girl - Artist Trading Card

How can you tell when the Holiday season has started??? By the amount of guests in your home. ;) LOL Another set has gone and just enough time to get sheets washed and put back on before the next set of guests arrive. I think I will need to fit in a NAP sometime in there. This is one I finished at 4am but have been waiting for the snow to clear before I could get a good picture. It is an ACEO 2.5 * 3.5 inch watercolor on 140lb CP paper. Hope you enjoy.

2 Tangled Pears Zentangle with watercolor washes

My DH doesn't like it when I throw out any paintings, so when he took out the recycling the other day he came back into the house with 3 that I didn't think were really up to par. He asked me if I could tangle up these paintings. ** actually it was more of doodle wiggling his finger - saying can you do that to that. ;) ** LOL So this is what I can up with. It is WAY better than the original painting. :)
Hope you enjoy

Gold and Turquoise Watercolor Lizard Painting- ACEO

2.5 * 3.5 inch
watercolor on 140lb CP Arches SOLD
My kitchen table is been taken over with pre-school books, so ive had to resort to changing my artistic expression from medium/large sized works to whatever fits into the palm of my hand and can be moved quickly. LOL I dont mind because my 4 year old has been writing, spelling and sounding out words and starting to catch on to column adding. :) My 2.5 year old is a parrot so anything that we are working on that day is being picked up by X as well. I LOVE IT!  So with that said this is my latest little creature card ive been able to fit in. Hope you enjoy.

I bought some new paints last week and just couldnt wait to try them out.  Quin Gold *** Love this color and cant beleive that I have been living without this color for so long. :) and the other is Lapis Lazuli, the verdict is still out on this color. Although it does lend itself nicely to stone but still trying to come up with another use for this oddity.  These are 2 of the watercolors I fininished up this weekend. They are both ATC's measuring 2.5 * 3.5 inch and are painted on 140lb CP arches paper.

10 min Ladies - abstract portraits

Good Morning All. Ive had the luxury of the kids sleeping in this morning so I got a few 10 min portraits done. I am actually very pleased in how they came out. They are bright, fresh.. and the best part they actually look human. ;)

On a side note, My wonderful husband has been modeling for me over the past few weekends, I started out with 3 - 15 min sessions of quick sketches.. which turned out so good, he has allowed me to paint him from life. I have never done anything like this and it is so exciting. :) After a 1 hour session - from sketch to blocking in local color - it already looks like him. I hope to get a picture today while it is nice outside and get it up sometime this weekend.
Hope you enjoy

This is my project of the week. It is 4.5 * 7 inch acrylic on a gallery stretched canvas. Check ebay tomorrow for the posting

Red Eyed Tree Frog - Acrylic and Watercolor

Over the weekend Artist Network was offering their free video weekend. In light of recent events I havent been much in the creative mood so this was a little kick start in the creative department. Inspired by Karlyn Holman, Watercolor without Boundries, this little tree frog aceo was created using a toothpick to paint in the black acrylic and traditional brush painting for the watercolor portions. Hope this inspires you to try something new.

Brown Hair Woman - ATC

I heard the most thought provoking thing this week when it came to painting portraits. "Every skin tone is made up of the 3 primaries - yellow, red and blue. The only thing that makes us differant is the amount of water used.: I wish I can remember where I heard it, because it has so much truth to it. When i paint people, I use variations of the just the 3 primaries This is the latest in my portrait trading card series and was created using raw sienna, rose madder and cobalt blue. I love her little smirk, it adds a little something to an otherwise dull portrait. Hope you enjoy.

Trying to loosen up Watercolor Portrait Studies

I have been working on "loosening up" and "get it right the first time" direct approach to painting in watercolors. Not an easy task as watercolors dry alot lighter so when you look at dark thick masses of color on your pallette it is kind of scary. :D
These are small quick studies

Tulips and Lilacs

The past few weeks have been really bad for hail around here. Up to this point I havent had anything compared to the people around us - but it finally caught up to us and I dont have much garden left. Thank heavens for the greenhouse at least we have tomatoes and peppers. ;) So in order to cheer up I decided to paint a pretty little picture to remind me of the beauty that once was. :( Hope it brings a smile to your face too. :)

Hibiscus- Floral triad watercolor study

I really haven't been in the mood for anything this past week. And it has really been hard to get anything started let alone get anything completed. So when I saw this weeks WDE and the challenge that went with it, i thought this would be just the escape that I needed. This is a small painting of an emerging hibiscus using only a 3 odd color triad. For this painting I chose Magenta, Brilliant orange and Cobalt turquoise. These are colors I seldom use so I thought I would try it out. Pretty flowers always make me feel better. :) Hope you enjoy
